My personal opinion is that the compressor is overheating or overpressuring under the stress of high heat, it stops and does not turn on again until either its temperature goes down, and'or the pressure goes down. So based on the fact that the system was cleaned and the compressor replaced recently I will rule that out. It went away only because summer temperatures did not happen again. The repariman nailed it down to a bad compressor. After some time (my guess is at this time the outside fan has removed enough heat from the compressor) the compressor will kick in and start working and cooling again. ![]() After some time, (lets assume at this moment the temperature inside is 77) the A/C will stop blowing cold air (it will keep blowing air just not cold), I go to the outside unit, and the outside fan is running, but the compressor is turned off. I go ahead and set the thermostat to 75 to get the house cooled. The thermostat is set to 82, so the unit is turned off right now. Called in a technician to clean my A/C, and also to have him check why was this happening (the whole A/C stops cooling with high outside temp.) Let me give an example.
